It was announced earlier this week that La Toya Jackson is engaged to marry her longtime business partner Jeffre Phillips, who proposed while the two were on holiday in Hawaii back in August. Phillips gave her a 17.5- carat engagement ring, and the couple says they plan to have a huge wedding.
“It’s going to be bigger than Kim’s (Kardashian’s)!” she told Confidenti@l Thursday while promoting the second season of her OWN reality show, “Living With La Toya.” “It’ll be bigger than anything, huge. Lots of people, all of it.”
The 58-year-old stepped out Friday to arrive at a New York radio station and La Toya couldn’t have looked happier. Her betrothed, meanwhile, is still getting used to the limelight after years behind the scenes as her business manager, and trailed behind his bride-to-be as she entered the SiriusFX radio station building.
The two were engaged 10 months ago but managed to keep it a secret until this week. Currently promoting her second season of her OWN reality show, Living La Toya, the star could not hold in the good news anymore. Jackson, 58, has been single for nearly 20 years after an abusive marriage.
“I felt that I didn’t want to have anything to do with men or that they would control me… But things have changed,” she said. “And now I’m open.” Jackson talked about wanting to be a mother. She says if she adopts a girl, she will name her Paris, like her late brother’s daughter.
