Our favorite funny women is coming back! With 30 Rock’s last season officially over, Tina Fey is working on a new comedy. According to Deadline, NBC has purchased an untitled comedy from Colleen McGuinness (a “30 Rock” writer), which will be executive produced by Tina Fey and Robert Carlock.
The show is “in the vain of Cheers,” and will be about a young women who reconnects with her father on Fire Island. Fey signed a new deal with Universal Television in the fall of 2012, which means that she will also create and possibly star in the show.
“She’s been a cornerstone of the network for over the past 10 years and there was just no way we were going to let her get away,” Robert Greenblatt, NBC Entertainment chairman. “It’s a measure of our esteem for her as a writer, actress and producer — she’s in a class by herself.”
Currently, Fey is working on a “Mean Girls” musical with her husband, Jeff Richmond, and a movie entitled, “This is Where I Leave You.”
